What is Intergenerational Trauma?
Intergenerational trauma, also known as transgenerational or multigenerational trauma, refers to the transmission of trauma from one generation to the next. These traumas can stem from historical events such as wars, genocides, slavery, racism, and other forms of collective violence and oppression. They can also arise from familial trauma like abuse, neglect, and unresolved grief.
